Gum Disease

Gum Disease or periodontitis is a common, usually chronic, inflammatory condition that effects the bone that supports the teeth.  If left untreated more and more supporting bone is lost, teeth become mobile, eventually leading to tooth loss.  

Research has demonstrated that periodontal disease may play a role in more systemic conditions such as cardiovascular disease.  Treatment for periodontitis involves deep cleaning of the gums around your teeth under local anaesthetic.
